Why I Like Starbucks Better Than Dunkin’ Donuts

In the past year, coffee has become a part of my daily morning routine. I developed my addiction during the first statewide lockdown last March. Aside from grocery stores and gas stations being the only places open Starbucks and Dunkin’ also decided to remain open. Being stuck inside was a mental challenge for me so going to these coffee shops nearly every morning quite literally kept me sane. I would consider myself a coffee fanatic now and can tell you many reasons why Starbucks is superior to Dunkin’. I will be talking about the three most important aspects of coffee shops such as environment, coffee taste, and food.

To start off my reasonings I would like to add I have been to many different coffee shops not only in Macomb but in Chicago as well. When looking at the environment Starbucks has the most comfortable space. You can go into any Starbucks sit down for a few hours and do homework. As for Dunkin’ Donuts, it feels like everything is always loud or they are always in a rush. It feels like more of a fast food place than a coffee shop. When looking at the coffee aspect of the two franchises, they both taste great depending on what you are looking for. I used to hate strong coffee tastes and prefer more sweet coffee. Starbucks is definitely bolder coffee and I have learned to love it. As for Dunkin’ Donuts, their coffee is very sweet and sugary. I mean there have been times when at least a centimeter of sugar has sat at the bottom of my cup. Dunkin’ Donuts always seems to hop on trends that Starbucks does. After Starbucks comes out with something Dunkin Donuts follows. For example, Starbucks released a line of refreshers in 2012 and since then Dunkin Donuts released refreshers in 2020. That is not the only thing Dunkin’ has copied but recently they just came out with cold foam when Starbucks has had that for years. Not to mention their cold foam is out of a can and not freshly made like Starbucks. Moving onto the food aspect of the two coffee shops, Starbucks has healthier and more refreshing breakfast items. They sell lunchboxes and breakfast sandwiches with reduced-fat. I am more of a savory person rather than sweet so that is why I prefer Starbucks food items better rather than Dunkin’.

Overall, Starbucks is by far the superior choice among the two. Despite the higher price, it is definitely worth what you pay.
